New release

Posted by Hikari - January 27th, 2016

Get your buts ready for a brand new release in the next few days. I'm doing a soundtrack for a game (I don't know much about the game but any excuse to make music right?) with a few friends *cough* @forgottendawn *cough* @dlxrevolution *cough*.

Be excited, be be excited! Be excited, be be excited! Be excited, be be excited! Be excited, be be excited! Be excited, be be excited!

Cool. I like music from video games. Especially SEGA Genesis. Are you doing anything 16 bit?

It's hyper 8/16bit. We are only using things like Famisynth and Magin8Bit but the mixing and track number kind of goes way beyond that of 8bit. Honestly it sounds more like psx era to my ears. I hope you enjoy it when it is finished!

Oh My.

So, it's maybe a step up from the sound of the music on AVGN Adventures?

In case you never heard of it, AVGN Adventures was based on both the 8bit and 16bit era of gaming.
Some of the music is pretty cool. My favorite themes are Future Fuckballs, Thy Farts Consumed and Laughing Joking Numbnuts.

And I am looking forward to this release. I (sneakily) use 16 bit sounds in my Dubstep submissions, so I have an idea what that might sound like.

Yeah actually with any luck I will be releasing it today! I'm going to have to check out AVGN's tunes, I would imagine if his music is as good as his video's I'm in for quight the treat.

Actually, the game is from ScrewAttack Games and is available on Steam and Nintendo's eShop. AVGN reviewed it. Search YouTube for "AVGN in Games."

The soundtrack is by Distant, who I believe also had a couple of tracks on OC ReMix.

Oh neat! I want to get to the point where I can be on OC remix one day. I think in a year or so I will be at that level!

If you make good, decently produced original content, you can get on OC ReMix.

My advice to making a remix of a video game theme for OC Remix is to start out making your own thing in the same key as the theme you intend to remix. Once you have 32 measures or so of your own song, incorporate the video game theme. Also, a rapid instrument solo is a plus in many cases. Unless, of course, that's not your style.

I usually do instrument solo's in my bit tunes so that's a plus right off the bat. I didn't realize you could submit original bit tunes! For sure I could get featured there in about a year. Thank's for the advice.
