Thank ya. Might run over it again and I'll update the track if I change anything major :)

Right away I'm loving this, the atmosphere your creating is just stellar. Really cool bass sound you made there. Nice little beat, I like how tight and clean it sounds, although I would have added a subtle short reverb just to give it a tiny bit of real space. Maybe pan the hats slightly too, just to give it a wider stereo image. I love that you made that snare kit fade into the pad. I always love to hear acid in any track. Perfect use of key changing. I'm loving these pads too. I'm about two minutes in and man, good work. Sadly you never did drop into a melody, that's really disappointing.

At forty-four seconds in you drop this really interesting effect that just doesn't hit as hard as if you paned it. Yeah, you got the sound design thing down but now I think you need to work on your stereo image. Don't be afraid of panning, honestly the only thing that should really be dead centre is your kick and your bass. This song could have been at least five minutes long in my opinion. Its missing a nice smooth lead and a real outro. For this I can only give it a 4, witch makes me sad because I was prepared right from the beginning to give you a solid 5.

Thanks for the review! I read it :D

Oooh, that glass is nice. If this was prepared as a loop I think it would have worked a lot better. Honestly all you really need is the first 12 seconds of this track. I really enjoy the trumpet synth, its nice and warm.

Things to improve on~

I would brighten up the bells, a nice little bump on the eq at 8khtz and a slight high shelf at 12khtz. I would reduce the reverb on the kick because its kind of adding a layer of mud on the track. I would also bring up the drum sounds because I feel like there just too far behind everything else. Some compression on the snare could be nice too.

Honestly because this song is so short I cant really say much on it. Next time your working with so little source material try to expand on the song. You can do this by drifting away from the main melody and then coming back to the main theme as a chorus. I hope this helps you in your adventures with music.

Oh, Thank you :) I'll keep that in mind

Alright, lets press play and see what happens.

Starting off with a nice filters piano and a sweep, nice and relaxing. I especially love how the sweep is on a pumping sidechain. I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the buzz lead, sounds like nexus to me, but then again It could just be that generic. I'm not saying that generic is bad or anything, it does have its purpose but I digress. When the kick drops in it feels like it doesn't have a lot of body in the mix, try compressing it if you haven't already. I'm not sure how you set up your signal path in your mixer but I would say try sidechaining more. Another thing you could do is try cutting 500htz on your kick and adding a bit of distortion. So I'm about a minute in and honestly I'm a bit sad because there was no real build up. You just dropped what seems to be the main melody. Well see I suppose. OH, before I forget try using your snare as a light sidechian source to get it to cut through the mix. The sliding lead is neat although a variation would have been nice. Around a minute forty the song is quite muddy, I think this is due to too much going on at once in the song in the same frequency range. Oh when that rough lead drops in I love it, so much attitude. I've been noticing volume fluctuation through out the track. This could be due to heavy compression on the master buss. Three minutes in and I'm kind of getting bored, all of these sounds are quite flat. You should add more effects and percussion. The outro comes a bit late. I think that the song could have been shorter, especially with the lack of variation in the melodies. Finally as the song concludes you fade the piano back in, nice touch.

Hmm..

If your not doing this already I would suggest slapping a hp filter on everything that isnt your kick or your bass around 120htz to leave room for the sub. I would also adjust the levels of your drums in the mix. You know what actually, I figured out what was bugging me. Try using more hihat sounds then just the 909 open. This would make your track a lot more interesting. Also try adding more drum sounds because just a kick, 909 hihat, and snare just doesn't work these days. Especially now that we have access to tuns of free sounds all over the internet. Next time, try to build more suspense in your track before you drop your main melody so that it hits harder. I would say at least a 16 bar 'intro' then the snare role, then boom drop the lead and the bass.

Don't get me wrong, I say this all with love.

Thanks for the detailed and very helpful review. I may not understand some of the stuff you're talking about, but I'm going to figure it all out...eventually.

Yeah, the main lead is a preset from Nexus. It's going to be quite a while until I figure out how to properly make my own leads and synths.

As for the percussion...this is pretty much all I got ^^;;. Sure I've got the other samples that come with FL, but...I just don't feel them as much. And I don't want to slice and mix up the loops FL gives you, just because of me being paranoid about copyright. Even with the free sounds available over the internet. I'll see what I can do though!

It's a shame you got bored throughout the track. But hey, not everyone's going to enjoy my music like I want them to. I see what you mean on there not being much melodic variation. I did try to vary it with the 7 melodies, 2 of them being a lot simpler than the rest. And 7 minutes is a long length for a track, even for me.

And thanks for the tip about dropping the main melody.

Thanks again for this huge and oh so very helpful review. I am definitely taking this to heart.

Sounds tops, now all you have to do is finish it.

Lalalo14 responds:

Thanks! Sure will do!

I love the synth at 24 seconds, some of the efects that you used I didnt preticularly like. I didnt like the harmonic run or the detune, this has potential!

FaeryTaleAdventurer responds:

Thanks for the input! This song was done in 2009. The vast majority of the effects you hear were done by "default", as in I didn't really put them there myself. But I tried to give the impression of a situation in a game where either you stand and fight, or leave as fast as you can.

There is higher quality.

I like the feel you created with this track. +3 for awesome guitar. (btw last track im 5ing and reviewing today)

yagru responds:

:D thanks tabu!

Tag again?!

That flange is a bit much, but it actualy gives a fealing of it being wet. So thats cool. The lead is chill like always. The drop of the bass was nice btw.

yagru responds:

thanks tabu!!! i was going for something adventurous :D

Masterd like a manager.

You make me envy you. First of all the, verry nice mixture of sounds here. I realy like the use of break down into the pad, ooh the gousebumps. Then you brout in the rest of the song in on a side chain with out the beat. Jizzzzz as you drop the bass and the beat is back. Oh man, leading up to the melody. Bam! *shakes head* its good, but i think after that you could have put more energy into it insted of breaking down again. *shrugs* after the song falls back togeather after the bass drop you kind of loose me. Oh well I like the song over all. ;)

D-Chain responds:

im sorry it has dissapointments here n there for you,
but i think every song has its ups n downs..
doesnt matter what kind of song you would pick :)

its like a virus but.. then again it isnt xD cz its 'your' opinion.
and anyone has its own opinion ^^

so infact.. the ups n downs makes it fun to listen to a song.

Still, im very glad you do like it after all :) thats my ultimate goal.
